Hayward Chinese (short report)

I couldn't find any posts about "Chef's Experience China Bistro" in Hayward, so here goes. My parents think it's best Chinese food in the Hayward/San Leandro/CV area even though they say they never see Chinese people eat there.

The food is authentic Cantonese/Mandarin, with good ingredients and not too saucy: chicken lettuce cups were just okay, even though the lettuce was very crisp; the fat, juicy potstickers are browned on a burner tableside (silly, I think); the tomato beef chow mein was not as good as I remember from childhood (perhaps why it's disappeared from most menus); and the seafood in bird's nest (crisp noodle nest) was spectacular - perfectly cooked and delicicous seafood, noodles, and sauce!

Prices were very reasonable, and service was good. I suspect there isn't much said about this place because it's located in deserted part of town, but it's worth a try. The lovely handpainted mural of ancient Chinese village scenes that winds around the ceiling is unique and worth a visit for its own sake.
