Hawaiian rice...What kind is it?

Dinermite | Aug 20, 201501:59 PM     6

I just came back from a fabulous trip in Maui and Honolulu!

The food there was amazing! Reading some of the Maui reports on this page make me want to go right back!

I had a good number of mixed plate meals that included the obligatory 2 scoops of rice. I have to say, the rice by itself was DELICIOUS! Very flavorful.

But the rice in the mixed plates and the loco moco had so much flavor and was soft and fluffier. I usually use jasmine or kokuho rose for my own home cooking and they don't match the flavor nor texture.

Is there a specific rice they use there? I did research and see Calrose rice mentioned. Is that the one or is there something different?
Thanks!!!
