One of the wire beaters of my trusty old Black & Decker broke, and since spare parts for this dinosaur are no longer available, I have to buy a new one. However, in combing the amazon reviews, the Cuisinarts are too fast in the low settings, and the KitchenAid was not strong enough in the higher ones.
What hand mixer do you have that you like, and why do you like it?
Ideally I'd like something that is good quality and long lasting, can charm its way through the delicates without making a mess (eg whipping cream), can sucker punch the kitchen bullies (eg dough-like cornmeal sugar cookie batter), and has easily replaceable parts on the off-chance that I turn out to be the kitchen bully. And of course, doesn't break the bank.
