Hello trusted friends,
Today, a friend, leaving Tokyo, gave me five 200gm packages of halloumi cheese, (The traditional cheese of Cyprus, so says the package).
The ingredients of this cheese are: Fresh Pasteurised Milk (blend of cow, goat, and sheep's), Salt, Non Animal Rennet, Mint. Expiry date is August, 2002.
While it certainly sounds delicious, I've not yet opened a package, for fear of wasting it. A search on Google turns up 1,407 hits, which I really don't have the time to wade through.
So, I ask my fellow hounds...what are your favorite uses/recipes for halloumi?
Also, any wine/beer/sprirts recommendations as an accompaniment?
