Back in the early '90s we used to go to a place on west Jackson called Marvo's. There, Marvo would butcher his own lamb and pack his own gyro spits. WOW, this was the ultimate gyro!
Alas, a fire ravaged the building and Marvo's stood empty for some time. Then one glorious day they re-opened the restaurant. I excitedly went in to order my favorite gyro with homemade meat and sauce. I stood in horror and shock when I saw it. There above the back counter was a sign proclaiming, “We Proudly Serve ATHENS GYROS”!
Don’t get me wrong they are not bad…. They’re just not Marvo’s.
Does anyone know of a place to get homemade gyros? Are they good?
