The Grill vs. Daily Grill

SpongeBobSquarePegs | Dec 5, 2004 08:21 AM

We had a screening last night at Hollywood/Highland and decided to go to The Grill at Hollywood instead of our regular Vert. I still very much like Vert but I feel that their menu hasn't changed since they opened (I could be wrong but that's just what it feels like).

So I'd never been to either of the grown-up Grill restaurants but had been to Daily Grill several times. While the food was good and service was attentive last night, I felt like the menu was pretty much the same as Daily Grill, but here at twice the price.

Now I realize the major difference is at The higher-end Grill restaurants there are many more choices for steaks and chops than at the Daily Grill, but other than those, I didn't see much of a difference.

Growing up, I had always heard the Rice Pudding with Golden Raisins at the Grill on the Alley was like world famous, yet I didn't see it on the menu. Is this one of those secret menu items, or am I mixing it up with something else?

Also, if anyone else cares, they are opening a Daily Grill downtown in early 2005 at about Wilshire & Flower. I am a fan of Daily Grill and will find it a nice addition to the lack of MOR restaurants downtown.
