Greentail's Seafood Market and Kitchen - OBX - Nags Head, NC

ToothTooth | Jul 8, 201911:20 AM

Just got back from a long 4th of July weekend in Nags Head and wanted to alert all you 'hounds to this great little seafood market and casual restaurant near mile post 11. Evidently, its been open a little over a year (May 2018) so it was new to me, but I will definitely be a repeat customer during future trips to the OBX. My partner and I had an outstanding lunch there and it was maybe my favorite meal during our trip. The kitchen really knows what they are doing.

First and foremost, all the seafood at Greentail's is super fresh and hyper local. The kitchen menu ranges from simple classics (seafood sandwiches/baskets) to much more interesting and inventive options (seafood noodle bowls, shrimp tamales, seafood fried rice, tuna poke nachos, soft shell crab banh mi, etc.) They also sell their tuna poke by the pound for take out. Prices are very reasonable and based on my observation of plates/bowls being delivered to other diners, the portions are consistently generous. The folks running the place were really friendly and accommodating to my partner's gluten sensitivity. Seating is limited, but was readily available when we arrived around 12:30pm on a Saturday. In my opinion, this place serves the kind of quality food that warrants the long lines that you see at much lesser quality restaurants around the OBX. Now don't get me wrong, I certainly don't want to wait in line any more than the next person, but Greentail's it doing it right and they deserve a high level of success.

The kitchen is only open until 5:00pm but the seafood market is open until 6:00pm.
