I found this at my local supermarket in Carroll Gardens, Brooklyn (Key Food, on Smith), and am very impressed. This is the best green tea ice cream (an old obsession) that I've ever tasted. Not too sweet, very creamy, not bitter but with that intense green tea flavor that's like no other and makes you pause and say "Hmmmmmmmmmm...." after the first spoonful.
There was no indication of where it's made. They make only one other flavor, Red Bean. The container is a greenish blue, with a pink sakura branch design.
I found a web site for a Mr. Green Tea company, but it states they only make seasonings. My (rather complimentary) e-mail to them went unreturned. They are based in NJ.
I have tried green tea ice cream at a gazillion restaurants, the Chinatown ice crean factory, and Ciao Bella. This is way better than any of them.
Anyone know the stuff, or anything about it??
