Green papaya salad question (ingredients?)

The earlier post got me hungry for my fav thai salad. We went to TIB TUB on Hillhurst in LF. To my suprise, the papaya salad not only had the shredded papaya, tomatoe, dried shrimp, peanuts and chile (usually red). This salad also had green bean, green chile and shredded lettuce. The lettuce seemed to be "filler", but the server told me the green bean was traditional. I've enjoyed this salad at many of the Thaitown favorites as well as Mai Ploy, Vims, Saladang and Simply Thai. None included green beans. I must say that this version was not among the better papaya salads I've eaten. The dressing was clearly not as enjoyable as Ruen Pair or Mai Ploy. The green beans overpowered the rest of the ingredients. The green chiles, IMHO are not as good as the red ones (and easily can be confused as green bean). Can any Thai experts cofirm the use of green beans as traditional in green papaya salads?
