Greek Island Grill - Costa Mesa/Santa Ana

OCElizabeth | Mar 31, 200604:14 PM

YUM!!!!!!!! Thanks Chowhounders - I am ashamed to admit it, but I have been known to pop in a Daphne's here and there on my lunch break - but NEVER AGAIN!!! On your rec's, I picked up lunch from the Whole Pita Greek Island Grill. The address says Santa Ana, but it is right across from South Coast Plaza, which is Costa Mesa. Anyways, corner of Sunflower and Bristol.

I had the Taverna Platter so I could try a little of everything and bring leftovers home for dinner/snack. Bad idea - the food was so delicious, and the portions so large that I have the worst stomachache of my life, but dont regret it in the least. I got the biftecki and gyro in my platter - the meats were both delicious, perfectly cooked/marinated/seasoned. The salad was fresh and delicious, with nice big hunks of cucumbers and tomatoes. And I LOVED the way they had parmesan (I think that's what it was?) liberally dusted over the pitas. The french fries were also seasoned, and beyond magnificent when dipped in the very cucumber-y tzatziki sauce.

I love a good lunch, and it seems sort of rare around here, so please excuse my exuberence for tasty gyros. But seriously - yum. If you work/live in the area - stop by sometime, you wont regret it!
