Great time at Village on 9th St

Yesterday around 4 pm I had yet to firm up dinner plans for a group of 7 for my husband's birthday. I went on Open Table and picked somewhat randomly from the list of anyone that would take us. We ended up at Village on 9th St and 6th Ave. It turned out to be a truly lovely evening with good friends. We got a round table that was somewhat private making for easy dinner conversation. Many of us went of the $25 prix fixe that includes either appetizer (soup or salad) or dessert (creme brulee or sorbet), main course (salmon, chicken or ravioli), coffee/tea, one glass of wine or beer. I had the gazpacho and ravioli and loved both. The gazpacho was pureed and very fresh tasting. The ravioli had goat cheese, peppers and eggplant in a pesto sauce - all three that had it thought it was amazing with really good flavor. Service was really nice and friendly. Overall it wasn't a cheap evening owing to numerous bottles of wine but I would recommend it and if you stick to the prix fixe, it can be very wallet friendly.
