Reminded by MC's latest post (link below) that it was time to visit Prezza again, we had another great meal last night. Met a friend at the bar for dinner. Kind of quiet at 5:30 but by 7:00 the bar was full and so was half of the restaurant. By the time we left, the place was hopping on a Wednesday night. I started off with their watermelon infused vodka. Garnished with a piece of watermelon, it was really really good, not too sweet, lots of fresh watermelon flavor- I ended up having one for dessert too. As mentioned, Jen and Kim make excellent cocktails, are knowledgable about their craft, and make the bar at Prezza one of the best in the North End. Three of us had the sweet corn raviolini with rock shrimp, the arancini with lobster and fava beans (one of my favorite dishes there), and Prezza's version of "clam chowder", which my husband always gets - a shallow bowl of creamy clam broth surrounding a pile of bacon-studded mashed potatoes garnished with fried clams and clams in their shell.

As mentioned, Prezza's acquired Meze (new name unknown) and I got a sneak preview of the planned menu. I'm really excited, it's going to be Mediterranean with lots of share plates and appetizers - perfect for grazing. We even got to try one last night - the Pimientos de Padron. Wow! These were addictive - small, sweet Spanish peppers simply grilled with olive oil and sea salt.

Some of the appetizers that will be on the menu:

Greek classics like Moussaka, hummus, babaganoush, and Avgolemono
Some of my favorite Lebanese dishes like kibbee and kibee nayeh
Tuna tartare with cucumber, mint, and zaatar
Braised baby octopus with harrissa, tomato and cilantro
Zucchini and mint fritters
Fried cod cheeks with cherry peppers
Yellowtail and fava pesto
Portuguese clams and pork
Mussels with chorizo and white wine
Grilled squid salad with oranges and salsa verde
Duck egg with roasted mushrooms
Skirt steak with goronzola cream
Grilled quail with sweet tomatoes

Entrees include wood-grilled veal chop, roasted rabbit, fontina-stuffed pork chop with vinegar peppers and potatoes, lamb shank with chick peas, paella, and whole roasted fish.

Hungry yet? I am. Though it looks like we'll have to wait until the fall.
