Great meal, Millerton

Had a great dinner on Mon. night at the Hamilton Inn, Millerton NY. FYI, Millerton is really close to Lakeville, CT, and along Route 22 in Northern Dutchess.

I'll just mention the dishes I tasted: excellent meaty lobster cakes with a cajun mayo and arugula, fettucine fra diavlo with tiger prawns, a little oversauced but tender giant prawns and great spicy sauce. Salad with duck confit, very good if plain. Saffron risotto with black truffles, most excellent with large shavings of truffle on top, cappucino was curiously lacking in coffee. Hawk Crest cab sauv for $33, mighty generous whiskey sour. There were other dishes I didn't taste but those eating them were all happy.

Service was really great, formal yet friendly. Chairs are particularly comfortable and the room has a fireplace, gentle lighting, well-spaced tables, and a very civilized atmosphere.

I wouldn't say that any of the food was wildly adventurous but it was consistently fine and the place is worthy of a rec.
