Great Fish and Chips in Point Pleasant Beach

We went to Stewart's of Kearny yesterday for lunch (522 Bay Avenue). It was fantastic. They featured fish and chips so I got the mixed seafood platter and sis got the fish and chips platter ($13 and $10).

The seafood platter contained two good sized pieces of fish and three each shrimp and scallops along with a pile of batter dipped fries and cole slaw. It was huge and I ended up taking half of it home. The fish and chips platter contained two good sized pieces of fish, fries and cole slaw. This also resulted in leftovers.

The fish was truly outstanding and impeccably fresh on all counts. The batter was crisp and good, if a bit greasier than I would have liked. The fries were excellent and so was the coleslaw, fresh and homemade. They also serve meat pies, sausage rolls, bridie, and cornish pastie. They looked good and I'll have to go back and try it. The only downside to this place was having to listed to endless renditions of Irish flute music, including the dreaded Titanic theme, for an hour. The good news: they have takeout!
