great experience at Julian's

So, last night, my parents, me, my girlfriend, my brother and his fiancee all went out for the fiancee's dinner. It was a pretty last minute decision, and the only place near them we could get a table was at Julian's (Mediterranean on 9th ave at 53rd Street). I'd heard mixed things about it but went in, as usual, open minded.

The food was good, not great, but very good. We had a Tuna tartare appetizer along with some duck qpring rolls and some calamare, and for my entree i had half of my rout and half of my girlfriend's duck breast. the duck was delicious and the trout was flavorful if not a little dry. Actually, three of us had the trout, although my father ordered the lamb (kitchen mix-up). They were extremely apologetic, he went with the trout anyway, and after dessert (which was, in my opinion, the best part of the meal, especially the banana crepes) they came over, offered us all after dinner drinks on the house (anything from the menu we wanted), and were extremely gracious without being intrusive at all.

I have to say, while the food was not outstanding but was very good, the overall dining experience was one of the nicest I've had anywhere in a long time. I'd definitely recommend it.
