Savoury and Sweet
3770 Bridgewater Street, L2G 6H3, Niagara Falls, Ontario
We enjoyed the Valentine Day's 3 course special: soup/schnitzel/dessert crepe.
The soup appetizer consisted of two choices: thinly sliced noodles prepared with a rich chicken broth, white square-cut chicken, and vegetables; and a gluten-free potato-leek soup. Sometimes these soups can be overly salty but not these ones. As an added bonus, a side-order of gluten-free bread was added to the my wife's potato-leek soup. Extra-care by the owner ensured that the soup arrived hot.
All generously-portioned schnitzels, veal/chicken/pork, were thinly pounded, evenly lightly battered in a bread mixture, and quickly deep-fried for a great crisp yet preserving a moist and tender interior. We had both regular and gluten-free breading, both were great. The
sides include a delicious red cabbage with the choice of euro potatoes or spaetzle, small dumplings.
The was a large variety of crepe options. My wife choose a gluten-free strawberry and I opted for the owner's favourite, Pecan Delight: with a caramel Sauce and whipped cream. I thought this was almost a perfect dish, a little too sweet but I am sure a sweet-tooth would give it a 10 out of 10.
In addition to the 3 course meal, I couldn't pass up the meat cabbage roll. I opted for a single serving appetizer. Served in a bowl of cabbage soup with a dollop of sour cream, I recommend you try this out if you decide to dine here.
The 3-course meals were $24/p.
