Great new butcher in the Townships

So a few weeks ago a new butcher opened up in Lennoxville, just outside Sherbrooke in the Eastern Townships. The place is called Boucherie Pierre Angus Beef. A few years ago another fantastic butcher, James, closed up shop which was personally devastating. Anyway, I finally checked it out and so far I'm really impressed. I tried the bavette, chicken breast wrapped in bacon stuffed with spanish sausage and what he calls the Pierre Angus Beef Steak.

The bavette was excellent, it was in a homemade marinade and was so tender. The other steak was good too, it had a molasses-based marinade which was quite tasty. The chicken was also great, really moist all the way through. I went back the very next day for more bavette and tried different chicken, this time stuffed with ham and cheese, which was even better than the other one. The owner/butcher is also a really friendly guy, giving us advice on cooking and he also threw in some mousses for free. He also had a large selection of sausage, fresh whole chickens and much more.

Anyway, so far so good in an area that was plagued with mediocre food options, even venturing into Sherbrooke is usually fruitless. And there's also finally a substitute for the truly awful meat selection at the Provigo in Lennoxville, which is in my experience the worst supermarket in the province.

Any of you who spend any time in the Townships should check this place out. There doesn't seem to be any listing of it online yet, but for those who know the area, its right above the main intersection in the town. Its right on College above Queen, can't miss it.
