Have you read James Villas' essay on hamburgers in "American Taste"? That's what I'm looking for. I know it still exists.
I like the quality of the meat at Boston Blackie's, but I find the bun and fries to be pretty weak.
P.J. Clark's had slightly better fries and bun in my opinion.
Ed Debevic's I didn't care for at all.
The Ms. tells me that Cavanaugh's is pretty good, but the cigarette smoke is so strong in there that I won't go back.
I actually find Steak and Shake to be pretty good, but we live in the south loop.
