Great Argentinian steak at La Portena

Last night I had friends over to see our new digs in Jackson Heights. We decided on La Portena because it was nearby and I had heard it has good steak from this site. It turned out to be an excellent choice! My guests ordered the skirt steak, I had the sirloin, and my husband got the filet mignon. We all agreed everything was cooked perfectly and the lack of BBQ sauce didn't take away from the flavors in the steak themselves! Yum! Their side dishes-choice of potato salad, rice, or french fries-however, were a mix bag. The potato salad was pretty good, the rice was alright, and the french fries were drenched in oil and soggy. Overall, we were suitably impressed by their steaks to plan a second visit. Next time we may sample the pasta options on their menu.

On a side note, has anyone tried the Italian restaurant next door? Any dish recs for that place?
