You may remember hearing about this: http://scoutmagazine.ca/2015/04/22/di...
We went for a late supper a couple weeks ago, I believe it was right at the start of their 'soft open' period. I wanted to give them a bit of time to tweak everything before I posted anything here, but I can't wait any longer to kvell!
What a lovely experience, and great addition to the neighbourhood! Warm, friendly room and great service. Chef Ron Shaw prepared us a number of dishes, and we went with the suggested pairings for all of them, which was really festive and fun! It also highlighted some delicious wines which we might not have otherwise tried. Seems like a winning concept to me!
The menu is constantly changing, so I won't bother going into detail, but a hen's egg dish we got was a total showstopper, as was the paired wine - hopefully that sticks around! We normally don't order charcuterie in restaurants, but we did here (supplied by D'Original), and it was super-tasty. The desserts were a bit odd, but chef was very interested in hearing our feedback, and frankly I've always found the desserts hit-and-miss at Farmer's Apprentice too.
We were celebrating, and ended up ordering quite a few cocktails, they were really delicious, damned if I can remember what they all were, but it's worth investigating when you visit for sure. Satoshi Yonemori is obviously a dab hand.
Has anybody else been?
