We're headed to NYC this weekend from DC to visit colleges with our daughter. We're having dinner Saturday at the GT -- for the first time. My spouse feels that, because this establishment is so highly rated (by some, anyway), a coat and tie (or at least a coat) are called for. Our experience here in DC is that, while there are still a few old guard places where you'd feel funny if you weren't in coat and tie (or at least a coat), most people are more relaxed than that nowadays and don't really care. So what's the deal at GT?
(Also going to Blue Water Grill for brunch on Sunday and Artisanal for dinner on Sunday. From the reviews I've seen of those places it seems clear that informality rules -- thank goodness!)
