Yup, I am now one of the converted. I ate twice this week at Gorikee in Woodland Hills which has been touted on the board recently. While the food isn't in the "Spago" or "Melisse" category, it is innovative, delicious, generous portions, only a $3 corkage fee if you bring your own wine, under $5 desserts -- what more can I say? Terrific! Once I ate with a group of Chowhounds and we ended up spending approx. $30 a person for an amazing amount of food plus 4 bottles of our own wine. Friday night, I took my mother and two friends -- we had 3 appetizers (croutons with 3 assorted small 'dips'; a white peaches on baby greens with sun dried tomato and goat cheese salad; an heirloom tomato and buffalo mozarella salad); main courses of Kobe Beef Salad, Norwegian Wild Salmon, Coconut Shrimp and Cajun Shrimp, 2 soft drinks and a piece of to-die-for mango cheesecake. The total bill before tip? $78! Amazing! So while I enjoy reading about other people's "fine dining" experiences on the board, I am determined that I will not find myself paying over $50 a person for any dinner in LA area from now on!
