really really good vegetarian indian - ANNAPURNA

the delicious life | May 27, 200511:16 PM

hi all! i've passed ANNAPURNA every day to and from work for several months now, and finally made it in there for lunch this week. wow. it was good, but i guess for the price ($6.95 per person), it was pretty great ;) i usually don't eat just vegetarian indian - i've always gone to the indian restaurants that serve a little of everything - so this was somewhat new. i had never had dosas before, and i love them (not as much as naan, but until i am reunited with the uber puffy naan that i remember, dosas will do it for me)

they have a few locations - orange county, artesia, but i went to the one in culver city. the contents of the buffet change every day, so i'll definitely have to go back to see what else they have.

i tried everything except the fresh fruit for dessert, because, well, it's fruit. lol! the carrot halwa dessert was only *eh* - it reminded me too much of that disgusting carrot raisin salad i had to eat in my elementary school cafeteria.

i didn't luuuuuurve the fried things either (well, except for the deep fried jalapeno - what IS it with me and jalapeno poppers?!?!), but the dal, vegetable curry, kadai bindi (okra) were delicious. soups were good , too. nothing was extraordinarily spicy, except the aam aachar (mango pickles) that were a condiment (i found out later) but i was eating like it was an entree - lol! i wonder what they must have thought of me - probably what i would think if i saw someone eating ketchup out of a bowl with a spoon.

anyway, i really liked annapurna :) all the indian food porn on the link.
