good pretheatre dinner at Marcels (DC)

Marcel's is often recommended as a pre-Kennedy Center choice for dinner. Finally had the chance to try it last Saturday. A very enjoyable experience!

We ordered off the dinner theatre menu, but the couple sitting next to us ordered off the regular menu and still got the free limo ride to the Kennedy Center, so it would appear there is some flexibility. The dinner theatre menu changes frequently, but we both had wonderful asparagus salad followed by pan-seared beef tenderloins. My steak-loving husband said the beef was just average compared with his frequent visits to area steakhouses, although still very enjoyable, just nothing special. I, on the other hand, really liked the crusty exterior and the way the seasonings went with the side dishes. Our desserts (something blueberry and something lemon-chocolate) were also truly fabulous. The service was quite good although we were a little slow in getting our check. You have the option of having your dessert after you return from dinner, which is a neat idea. I would highly recommend this experience to anyone looking for a good dinner prior to visiting the Kennedy Center.
