good place to get chinese products

Hi everyone,

Perhaps you have heard of Summit Import before. They're an Chinese import company in Jersey City, NJ. Besides importing Chinese products, they have a "cash and carry operation" next door to their main building. I've only seen other people there once, so I've been keeping it to myself for very selfish reasons, but now I'm moving away from Jersey City to VA, so I figured that I would share it with everyone.

Essentially they have extras from their main business sold at dirt cheap prices, cash only of course. Everything is cheaper than all of the other Chinese (super)markets I've been to. There's 4 aisles, the first has noodles, soy milk and other drinks, tea, and rice, the second has snacks (like crackers and cookies) and I think spices and also I think more noodles, the third has more snacks - like jerky and dried fruit and seeds and sauces, the fourth has more sauces, canned food, and furu and some other random items. Finally the best part is the refrigerator / freezer. I don't really remember everything they have but I can say what I've bought I'll say some, only the stuff that I get: tofu (vitasor $0.70/box), frozen you tiao, dumplings, wontons, bao zi, broad beans, red beans, these dim rice spring rolls comrade frozen veggie food - shrimp rolls & beef bites & veggie ham & veggie stew. Due to the nature of the place there's different stuff everytime I'm there and often once you buy all of one particular product it probably won't be restocked.

Besides amazing prices, it's also one of the few places I know of in Jersey City that sells Chinese food products. The others being the two Vietnamese markets downtown and the Chinese one (Tops), also on Newark Ave. by 5 corners. None of these have everything one needs. So having Summit Import really helps.

I hope this information is useful. Check their website for directions. There's a usually empty visitor parking lot to park in. If I remember correctly, when I asked that they're open 9 - 4:30 M-F.

And make sure to check dates on their products! some stuff is long expired!
