Good News - BBQ Championship in Memphis

Al | Apr 25, 200411:28 AM

I read in the paper this morning that rules have changed regarding sampling the competitors' 'que at the bbq cooking contest. Here's the new dish according to the Commercial Appeal:

"A long-standing gripe by fans of the World Championship Barbecue Cooking Contest (May 13-15) has been resolved. In the past, attendees weren't free to sample the savory dishes. Now the People's Choice Awards will allow anyone to taste and judge barbecue from 60 of the 230 teams...

Visitors can sample one-ounce portions in a blind tasting. Five samples will sell for $3, 10 samples for $5 or 20 samples for $8. Each sample represents one vote. The tasting will be offered between 2:30 and 6:30 p.m. on May 13 and 14."

Memphis hounds - sounds like it's worth going this year (if you weren't already attached to a team).

At last - the Memphis in May folks get something VERY right!
