I had a good lunch at Tanino in Westwood Village. It's a straightforward middle-to-high-end Italian place with lots of waiters in a cool, ornate space circa 1900. I got the tomato and bread soup and the pasta with lamb ragout. The bread was quite good when accompanied by their olive oil and lots of salt. The tomato soup was also quite good, nothing like Campbell's, much thicker and more textured I assume from bread crumbs and some cheese, with a nice big basil leaf that I ate whole. The pasta with lamb ragout was okay but not excellent. A big bottle of sparkling mineral water, a brand I hadn't heard of, was $5.75, excessive as always but not unusually so. I would say that the lunch overall was worth the money and I'll go again someday.
