Still looking for good Indian food in NYC. The best I've had to date (I thought) was at Banjara, a relatively new place at 6th Street and 1st Ave. Their lamb dumpakht (a sort of pot pie) is really tasty, as are most of the appetizers.
Today I'm having a biz dinner at Jewel of India (I don't know midtown restaurants at all), and given the opinionatedness of c-hounds on the quality and authenticity of Indian cuisine in NYC, I wonder what you think.
I will let my taste buds decide as to the tastiness of what I get there, but would appreciate info as to the origins and general style of the food. Is it "real" Indian (from what region?), or Bangladeshi? (I want to stress that I often enjoy a meal cooked by a Bangladeshi cook. But as I'm still learning the basics of the cuisine, I want to develop my powers of discernment.) Recommended entrees?
