I'm going to be coming to Philadelphia for the first time from DC. I'm really excited because I hear your dining scene is excellent.
I'm visiting a friend in South Philly. I'm not 100% sure what our plans are but I've already told him I want to try a Philly cheesesteak and a great Italian meal (especially because he himself comes from a big Italian family---legit. His Grandma still lives in Italy).
Any can't miss spots in the South Philly (or surrounding) area? Someone recommended Paesano's for sandwiches, August and Ristorante Pesto for BYOB/Italian food. Any thoughts?
We don't want to spend too much money (probably no more than $40/person or so). BYOB sounds like fun since we don't have that in DC. And nothing where I have to get super dressed up.
