Last night I had one of the single best dishes from all my visits to Kinkeads. It was an appetizer: a trio of wild mushrooms (shiitake, chanterelle, and blue-foot, I think). Some were in a tiny phyllo triangle, others in a tiny brioche hamburger bun, with a bit of wilted spinach and caramelized onions between the two, and two fabulous sauces. I wish I had taken notes and asked Tom (server) for more details about it. Its their summer alternative to the wild mushroom ravioli. It was well balanced, with no one flavor dominating, but all complementing one another.
We also had one of our favorites, the grilled squid appetizer. Then we went for the Grand Selection (cold shellfish around an ice sculpture), with a side of creamy polenta and tomato fondue. All was yummy!
My husband had a cobbler for dessert that was so good he ate every crumb (and hes not usually into dessert). I had the trio of creme brulees, which were, as usual, wonderful. I usually prefer their pear stuffed with gorgonzola (a classic appetizer) for dessert, but it wasnt on the menu.
