Good Chinese in Verdun

David | Feb 23, 2005 07:16 PM

By chance, I was hungry and walking along Wellington Street in Verdun, a west side neighborhood of Montreal (nearest Metro Station deLeglise--green line) and spotted LA MAISON EGG ROLL-Le Paprika. From the window menu I Selected Offre:18 --Cashew Nut Chicken, fried rice & egg roll. It was early (5:00 p.m.) and inside I asked if they were open. Yes indeed. I was seated asked if I wanted won ton soup with green onion. I did. A small bowl of excellent won ton soup appeared, delious clear broth and fresh green onion. After a short wait, a steaming heaped plate cashew nut chicken arrived over vegetables, fried rice and egg roll. It was tasty and the chicken tender. Not 'gourmet' but I didn't want gourmet,I wanted plain chicken with cashew nuts. I drank ice water. The price was $6.92 plus tax! BYO too. Now you can spend more at La Maison Egg Roll and elsewhere, but I challange you to find a better dish at a better price. Before I go back to Toronto I'm determined to try Offre:20 Chow Mein with Shrimp Cantonese Style. Address: 3741 Wellington, Verdun. Tel: 932-1186
