My publisher is planning a party during Book Expo America - May 29 - June 1. The party is going to be held at Metropolis Books in downtown. Originally he loved the idea of getting a taco truck to pull up out front and he'd cover the tacos for everybody at the party, probably 80-100 people. Problems - the curb is red in front of the store. And for that matter, it seems unlikely that a truck pulling up front even if it could , wouldn't get harassed to move.
I found a taco catering company in an earlier post here, but they need to set up a grill and there just isn't anywhere to do that other than on the sidewalk - something else that I imagine might be frowned upon.
Steam table tacos of some sort?
So, what I'm looking for is fun, cheap, ethnic party food that would work well for a party in a bookstore in downtown. It would be ideal if there is a catering company that can handle it. Steam table dim sum - maybe? Sushi would be too expensive. Indonesian? Maybe some of the people from Duarte? I'm just not sure what might work best.
Any ideas, and especially names and contact info for caterers would be very welcome. Thanks.
