Globe revisited

Wendy Lai | Feb 24, 200302:12 PM

Last months after a play we visited Globe and had a wonderful late night supper. I wrote about it.
Since we only ordered a few things (home-made spaghetti is to die for) we were looking forward returning and trying out other items on the menu.

Saturday night we visited again, and I'm so sad to say I was disappointed second time around. The table bread weren't as good this time. The service wasn't as attentive, and on top of it all the food was just okay. We ordered the spicy shellfish in a claypot, rabbit terrine salad, and tuna tartar as starters. I think only the shellfish dish was good, the rest were blah. A really salty olive tapanade came with the tuna tartar. The two didn't mix at all, with the olive over powering the tuna if eatern together as intended. The side salad with the rabbit terrine was the bright spot in a otherwise drag presentation of the rabbit terrine, which tasted a bit like dry chicken salad.
For entree we ordered duck breast with couscous and butternut squash and spinch in a tangy fruit sauce, and seabass with Yukon Gold potato with peashoots and spring onions. I didn't think duck dish worked very well at all. The side dish didn't match the duck, and the sauce was all wrong, too tangy and very out of place. My fish was overcooked, and way overpriced at $22 for only a piece of fish floating in some broth with peashoot and potato.
We didn't order desserts.
I'm sad to say we will probably not go back, unless it was for spagetti maybe.
