Giving Guelaguetza another shot

Mr. Taster | Jan 11, 200505:31 PM

so my first experience at guelaguetza was not a very positive one. but based on the raves here, I think I ordered wrong, so I defer to your collective experiences for guidance. My original visit was in Koreatown, in a large location (not the small storefront on 8th near soot bull jeep), but a large location with a big parking lot in the back. I ordered the chicken in black mole, which was huge, and delivered on a giant 1/2 chicken plate covered with and sitting in a pool of black mole. But the thing was so big that it became unwieldy-- after eating 1/2 the chicken I got bored of the same texture and chewing became a chore.

So my questions for you, dear hounds:

1. Which location is most consistently best?

2. What are their standout dishes? What can I order to avoid the jaw lock I got from chewing in a giant chicken? Variety of flavor and texture is key.

Many thanks!
