Finally tried Gingergrass Saturday night. By far the best thing about this place is it's location across the street from Silverlake wine. (They sold us a chilled 1995 Kabinett Riesling from the Rheigau for $8.50 including tax - lovely stuff.) Sadly, the food was uniformly too sweet (they seem to rely too heavily on hoisin sauce) and generally lacking in fresh chile heat or other savory/spicy flavors. We much prefer Song (yes, I know it's Thai) for the same types of dishes and flavor combinations, but much better executed. I'd be delighted if Gingergrass improved, but won't return for dinner again. Perhaps for a lunchtime bowl of Pho when the rains return.
