Gigantic East Coast Diver Scallops with roe at 'Sunny Supermarket', Finch/Don Mills

Charles Yu | Jun 25, 201701:05 PM

Heard they have really sweet, juicy and tasty Badami mangoes at Sunny Supermarket, hence made a special trip there. Unfortunately all sold out but got some huge Brazilian Palmer instead.

Though missing out on the Badami mangoes, I noticed they were unpacking some freshly arrived Giant East Coast Scallops. Got some at $7.99 a pound. ( the one in the photo costs $7.37 ). Huge and pristine fresh! Can rub shoulder with their Hokkaido cousins! ( which can be had at Tokyo Tsujiki market at $4 for 3!!....Sigh! ).
Pan seared with butter and finish off with a few drops of sweet soya sauce....Yuuum!!! Love that roe!
