Georgian in Brooklyn: Pirosmani vs. Tbilisi vs. Tone Cafe vs. Mtskheta

HungryChippo | Feb 8, 201506:12 PM     16

Planning a wintery Brighton Beach day with a group of friends and would love to cap the day with some awesome Georgian food. I've done some research on these boards and other blogs, and am trying to decide on which place is best. Interested in the whole gamut of Georgian classics including the breads of course, khinkali dumplings, various lamb kebabs/sausage, garlic chicken, etc.

Leaning towards Pirosmani because it seems like a nice balance of good food, good service/atmosphere, etc. Was also liking the sound of Tone Cafe as it once was the lauded Georgian Bread helmed by the legendary Badri (now retired; sad for us, much deserved for him). Tone Cafe looks like a warm, inviting space on top of the good food and freshly baked breads with the in-house tone oven. Heard good things about Tbilisi and Mtskheta as well. I know there are some wonderful standalone Georgian bakeries around as well, but I'm thinking of a sit-down dinner joint to get a wider taste of things.

BYOB would be a plus as I'd love to bring along some DIY infused vodkas.

Any other Brighton Beach suggestions would also be very welcome. I know Georgian dinner will be rich/delicious, and since I'm one to overindulge, I will admit that I'm a little concerned about filling up on too many other amazing BB foodstuffs beforehand!
