Georges Greek in LB

MEalcentric | Oct 3, 2005 11:18 AM

Had dinner with some friends at Georges' in LB. Sat outside in the cozy front courtyard, watching George himself greet all the customers (sweet old man). Ordered the beef and lamb gyro, friends ordered the lamb souvlaki and steak. Also got the tzatziki appetizer

All the meals and apps come with their standard pita. Good quality bread, only problem is that they toast it too early so it comes to your table cold, without retaining the crispy of hot bread or the chewiness of untoasted. Still not bad though

Gyro meat was tastey and nicely charred. Lamb wasnt the least bit gamey and the portions were very big. Took a bite of the lamb souvlaki and thought it was a little dry but still good. Didnt try the steak but it was served with some tastey, though soggy, thick cut fries.

Pretty good value considering most entrees were $9-$13. Service was a little slow but very "entertaining" to say the least.
