This board is a wonderful thing. My aged aunt wants to go to dinner at the Peninsula Hotel this weekend. So I looked up the choices, and found 2 restaurants. Brief search, buckets of info on Shanghai Terrace and the peking duck dinner, and a little on Avenues. Well armed, we can now make an intelligent decision.
Last December I went to Santiago, Chile, and before going asked for pointers. I think it was annieb who replied (I would have said thank you before, but I am embarrassed that I could not remember who it is or find the thread), and gave me some very good input. And I quoted frequently the comment about Chile being a cuisine with excellent ingredients in search of a chef (plus the coffee bars with the millionaire minute, which are a different experience).
Finally, thanks to Tony, and all of you for continuing to expand my horizons. Now I will post on ByBys as a separate thread.
