new gelateria at Silverlake Junction!

I was in the area and saw signs two weeks or so ago, and I thought it might've been the remnants of an old storefront at first. As I discovered yesterday, it wasn't, as it opened a couple of days ago. The various gelati are pretty good, and freshly made on the premises on a daily basis. The owners (this is a family-run place, it seems) were really too generous with samples. I got to try the chocolate malt, dark Valrhona chocolate martini, pineapple with toasted coconut, almond fig, and Sicilian pistachio before getting a small cup of the chocolate malt and pistachio. The man helping me kept saying I should try more flavors, and I ended up being unable to finish it all because I'd had so many samples.

I went a little past 6, and they'd sold through a bunch of flavors by then. There was, however, apparently more being made in the back in (at least) vanilla.

One of the other customers recommended a flavor that I think was called midnight espresso or coffee, but it had sold out earlier in the day. He also pointed out some sizeable samples of fudge(? truffle?) that they had left out for customers. It was SO good and fresh that I think I can stop buying homemade fudges from eBay sellers. The label indicated that it was from John Kelly Chocolates-- does anyone know if they're local as well?

So, yeah, check out Pazzo Gelato on Sunset. I think I'll go on Sunday and pick up some a square or two of the chocolate...
