Gathering for Family - Ideas Needed Please!

yumfactr | Jun 14, 201705:11 PM     23

Everyone was so helpful for my "picky dad" post that I am hoping to get help with another, slightly similar (sort of) question... :)

After the excitement of my dad we will be having a different group of family members over a week later. These family members are exactly the opposite of my dad - they eat all sorts of interesting things, have a penchant for pork (i.e. ribs, pulled pork, "fancy" cold cuts) , and they are sort of low carb to boot. They like to drink very fine wine and all sorts of interesting types of alcohol.

I cannot imagine what to serve them that will stick with the low carb, seem "fancy" enough, and also be manageable given the number of people and our limited space for cooking. We have a small gas grill, another burner which we use for our cast iron pans, and obviously the oven /stove.

My partner can handle the alcohol part - he is making a list of what to get, etc., but I am really not sure what to make that will meet all this criteria and be easy enough to not screw up :)

Open to really any ideas except anything carb heavy and anything that has to be baked for a long time. (We are in summer here and putting the oven on makes the house very warm). I am looking for appetizers, a nice main - perhaps 2-3 sides. Dessert will just be fruit - perhaps grilled peaches or something similar...

Thank you again!!
