Gary Danko vs. French Laundry

Baker | Jul 24, 200308:32 AM     9

We just returned from a fabulous trip to SF area where we dined at many great restaurants, but the surprise of the trip was that Gary Danko was hands down far superior in every way to the French Laundry. From the atmosphere to the food and particularly the wait staff, Gary Danko far exceeded our expectations. Every dish we had at Danko was right on target whereas the dishes at the Laundry were inconsistent and a few were overly sweet (ie, fresh corn soup and lobster pancake). In my opinion, the Laundry has definately peaked and hopefully, when they open in NYC they will be able hire staff that are a bit more comfortable in their own skin.
