Back when I spent a year in Hogtown, I was fortunate to become well acquainted with the soul food stylings of Mama Lo. Unfortunately not before I wasted precious months not visiting her establishment because some non-chowhounders had warned me away. But then the new edition of Roadfood came out (this was in '92) and there was Mama Lo's so off we went and mmmmmmboy just what the doctor ordered for some starving graduate students. Meat-and-threes for a few bucks. Your starstruck reporter even got Mama Lo to autograph his copy of Roadfood. :>)
Anyway, are Mama Lo and/or her daughters still dishing out that good home cookin'? If not, the world is a lesser place.
