Gaggia Compact Digital Superautomatic Settings

Hi -

I've had the Gaggia Compact Digital Superautomatic for a few weeks now. So far it works pretty well - at this point the convenience outweighs any slight inferiority in taste.

My initial thoughts are that the build quality is a little chincy and too plasticky for my taste, but I guess thats what you get for <$1000 these days. To get the metal housing, you need to spend at least 2x.

I've been tinkering with the grind/dosing but haven't found the optimal mix yet. I drink mostly cafe crema's with either regular or steamed milk.

Anyone else have this machine? I'm looking for recommendations for :

1) GRIND setting
2) DOSE setting
3) Coffee Beans

Right now, I'm using 6 on the grind, max on the dose and Lavazza Super Crema. I'm finding the brew a little strong and bitter for espressos, weak for large 6 oz coffee and ok for the middle size.
