Ft. Myers Trip Report -- March 2015

I utilized the responses on that thread along with two recent online lists by Jean LeBoeuf, 52 best restaurants in SW Fla and 30-something places not to miss in Lee County.

First dinner was at Crave. Highlight was our server, Alison. She was enthusiastic, knew the menu and the numerous specials in detail, and was top notch. Started with the chicken wings, which were good in a tasty, fairly hot sauce. I ordered the shrimp and grits. Grits were excellent, nice texture, a bit of cheddar cheese flavor. Nice sauce. Shrimp were good, but served tail-on so when they came out of the chunky sauce, it was messy and a bit difficult to pull the tails off or cut them without leaving shards of shell which got into some bites. Mom ordered a special, a vegetable wellington which had eggplant, zucchini, some spinach and onion and more. She really liked it and finished one half and took the remainder home. I was going to order the meatloaf but Alison warned it had horseradish, so I went with the pork chop which was massive and served over mashed potatoes and thin green beans covered with a delicious brown onion gravy. Unfortunately, pork chop was a touch overcooked and thus dry, though the gravy and sides helped with this.

Good dinner -- I'd go back here. Mom had been before for brunch.
