This weekend I got takeout sushi from Green Sushi on Fulton St. and S. Oxford; we didn't feel like going to our usual place in Manhattan so we braved the wilds of Brooklyn for sushi.
We just got sushi, didn't really delve into the rest of the menu, so I am hoping that others out there can share their experiences with this place.
Overall the quality was not bad, about on par with your average sushi place in Manhattan with prices to match, which was disappointing. One of the appetizers we ordered was tuna carpaccio with a wasabi mayo sauce. The idea of this was very enticing but the execution was lacking. I expected paper-thin slices of tuna, like with beef carpaccio and also expected a more flavorful sauce. Instead the slices were about 1/4 to 1/8 inch thick and the sauce was a bit bland.
Their negi hama roll (yellowtail and scallions) was nice; a little more flavorful and spicy than one gets in other sushi places. Other than that their rolls were pretty much normal with Manhattan prices. The fish seemed fresh and tasty but, again, nothing extraorinary.
The waitstaff and cashiers were good, the place was clean. The ambiance and decor were nice but it was pretty empty so hard to judge.
Looking to hear others' reports and suggested dishes. Or recommendations for better places nearby.
