Frying Polenta Mishap

I made some wonderful polenta using organic corn meal and excellent chicken stock. I refrigerated, sliced it, and tried to fry it in oil, but when it hit the frying pan it kind of melted: lost its shape somewhat, began to fall apart. It was good, but it was not as pretty as I had hoped it would be.

Any advice for frying polenta?
