I read somewhere that this chip truck was the reader's choice award winner for the Durham area last year (forget which paper). I'd been wanting to go for a long time, as I was dying to try newfie fries (described at another chip truck as fries with stuffing and gravy, the stuffing being made specifically with summer savoury, which I really love).
I ended up not getting the newfie fries, because they turned out to be fries with breadcrumbs, seasonings and gravy. Their poutine was disgusting: grated stretchy cheese and not much of it, weird tasting gravy from a mix, smallish serving size for $4.75. My DC had a medium order of their fries, which come in a cardboard container inside a brown paper bag, filled well over the top of the box. They were really good with the perfect balance of crispy exterior and fluffy interior. If I was in the neighbourhood I might grab an order of fries, but I'd never get anything there with gravy...yuck.
I found the prices a tad high for a chip truck, but not ridiculously so, e.g. a small fries is $3.00, though a pretty good size at that.
