I am in search of a fruit tart recipe to make for a work birthday this Friday. I'm not concerned with what types of fruit are in the recipe, as I know that can easily be modified. But, what I am concerned with is:
A. Finding a good crust recipe, though I think I've found enough decent recipes that I can do without suggestions if need be.
B.Finding a tart recipe that doesn't use any kind of pastry cream or other layer of creamy goodness between the crust and the fruit. This is the big thing I need help with. The person I am making this for claims that her mom makes an awesome fruit tart without anything between the crust and the fruit. I'm not sure how this is possible, even with a really thick/substantial crust, but I figured I'd seek advise from all of you as to how to make this work. Perhaps one of you makes a similar concoction.
Anyway, any and all help would be great. Even if you have a killer tart recipe that includes some sort of pastry cream layer, I'd be up for seeing it, since I'm very doubtful that I'm going to find something without cream and am open to persuading my coworker about the joys of creamy-dom.
