I'm in New York, my friend is in Columbus. She's been having mad cravings for Banh mi ever since she moved from San Francisco. Her husband is coming to NY on business next Friday and I'd like to bring him some sandwiches to bring back to her that night.
Any suggestions for how to keep them fresh? I'll probably pick them up on my way into Manhattan in the afternoon.
At first I thought of freezing them, but that isn't going to work.
Thoughts? I'm sure a soggy Banh mi is better than none at all, but I'd love to figure out how to get her the freshest sandwiches. Oh, and any tips on how to contain the smell? Put them in big zip loc bags? I realized as I was eating one last night that the smell could travel through the aircraft cabin and cause intense jealousy among starving passengers.
